Using an original issue, we have replicated every detail of this USAF WWII Crash / Survival Axe. The full profile tang and axe face are made from one piece of high carbon steel that is over 1/4" thick. Designed to be durable enough to hack through the fuselage and even be used as a survival or self defense tool if needed, one was issued to each pilot. The textured rubber handle has the ID number 42D8331 like the original. The rubber grip covers nearly the whole length of the shaft to insulate against possible shock from hitting electrical features in the plane. Includes leather sheath. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts.
