A Word on Tariffs and the Cost of Preserving the Past

Sep 15th 2025

Friends of history,

In my many years studying swords, sabers, and the men who wielded them, one lesson holds true: change is inevitable, but resilience is earned. Today, we find ourselves facing a modern challenge—a matter of tariffs and trade that touches even the blades and garments we cherish.

Below, you’ll find a message from our company president. I encourage you to read it not only as a customer, but as a fellow guardian of history. What we create and carry at Museum Replicas is more than merchandise—it’s memory, craftsmanship, and connection. And that, dear reader, is always worth protecting.

To our valued customers,

I wanted to take a moment to personally address some upcoming changes that may affect how we operate and more importantly, how we serve you.

As you may have heard, the U.S. government announced an increase in tariffs on goods imported from India, with some rates expected to reach 50%. While these changes are not fully in effect yet, they will be soon. Since many of our most iconic and most-loved products are made in India, including through our longtime partners at Windlass Steelcrafts, we are preparing for the possibility of rising costs.

This is not the first time we’ve faced external pressures. Over the past few years, we’ve done everything possible to hold our prices steady despite persistent increases in raw materials, manufacturing expenses, and global freight costs. We’ve managed to avoid passing those burdens onto you because we believe access to quality, historically inspired products shouldn’t be out of reach.

But as new tariffs take shape, we may be faced with difficult decisions in the near future.

We’re working hard to keep things steady, to carry as much of the burden as we can, and to stay true to the values that built this community in the first place. The pieces we carry are more than merchandise: they’re the result of careful research, skilled craftsmanship, and a genuine passion for the past.

Whether you are a collector, a reenactor, a student of history, or just someone who appreciates a well-made blade, we’re proud to stand with you. And as things evolve, we’ll be honest with you, we’ll keep you informed, and we’ll keep doing what we’ve always done: building something meaningful, together.

With sincere thanks,

Pradeep Windlass

President
